This class is taught by Professor Tsutoko Shinama, and it studies sound, light and gravity alchemy. There are multiple instruments around the classroom, and there are also mirrors, lamps, and many windows.
Fuyushi walked through the door, and sat down at a table in the 3rd row. He plugged his earphones in and began to listen to his favorite piece of music, the 1st Cello Concerto by Antonin Dvorak.
Professor Shinama was busy writing something down in his teacher's binder.
Fuyushi looked up at the two girls and nodded a cool greeting at them, then continued listening to the cello concerto, which was now in the 3rd movement.
Shinama snapped his binder shut, took out some papers that were in his folder, read them quickly, then stood up and faced the class. "Hello and welcome to another year, and another class for sound, light and gravity alchemy! I'm sure we will all be good friends this year. For starters, why don't you all say your names, your types of alchemy, plus one interesting thing about you? Unplug your earphones, young man, and we'll start with you." He pointed to Fuyushi.
Said boy glanced up, sighed, and turned off his ipod, putting it back in his bag. "I'm Fuyushi Natsuko. My alchemy is sound and light. I've played the cello since I was seven. And... er... oh yeah. My sister is Akinara Natsuko. You two might know her," he added to the two other girls in the class."
Shinama nodded. "Good! I'll have you next-" he pointed to Yumeshi, "-then you," he said, pointing to Nana.
Yumeshi stood, slightly embarrassed. "I'm Yumeshi Sanjo. My alchemy is light and I'm Professor Mustang's (both of them) younger sister." She sat down, and Nana stood up. "I'm Nana Yoshimizu. My alchemy is sound and notes. I've been playing violin for as long as I can remember. That is all." And she sat back down.
Shinama smiled. "And I'm Tsutoko Shinama, my alchemy is sound, light and gravity, and I like... hm... lifting people in the air." There was a pause, then Shinama clapped his hands together and exclaimed, "Like this!" Suddenly Yumeshi was floating three meters in the air. He put her back down gently.
Shinama grinned. "And in case you're wondering, no, it's not some kind of joke." He turned serious again. "Right! Flip to page 30 of your textbooks: An Introduction to Sound Alchemy."
(Shinama was burned by their intense stares and dried up and died. lol jk)
Fuyushi did the same, looking a little bored. Shinama instructed, "Read the first page, annotating and taking notes as you do so. Write any interesting things down in your notebook, and any questions you have. Okay? Go!"
Nana went up to the board. "Sound alchemy is the alchemy that manipulates sound waves in the air. They can change the waves, affecting all who hear them."
Yumeshi also walked up to the board. "Sound alchemists can change the pitch, frequency and length of the sound waves."
Fuyushi wrote: "Sound alchemists can hear sounds and pitches that regular humans cannot; therefore, they are better musicians than most. They can also change the volume, thus having the ability to break glass, deafen, and more."
Shinama nodded. "All very good points," he said. "Now, for this lesson, we'll be practicing changing pitches." He pointed to a piano, and it played a perfect A. "Nana, change it to a B flat."
Shinama smiled. "Very good, Yoshimizu," he nodded. "Now Fuyushi, change it to a D-sharp." Fuyushi closed his blue gray eyes, and suddenly the piano was playing a perfect D-sharp. Shinama nodded. "Excellent, Natsuko. Now, you two work together on a worksheet on sound alchemy I have made for you," he said, handing them out two worksheets of 3 pages stapled together. "Sanjo, come with me to this side of the room."
Nana narrowed her eyes. "Yes, we are supposed to work together. But we are not in this school to chat all day."
Meanwhile.... Yumeshi thought for a moment. "Light alchemy is the alchemy that can control lights. A light alchemist can control the dimness and amount of light." She thought a little longer....
Yumeshi scrunched up her eyebrows. (lol) "Erm...light alchemy is one of the easiest forms of alchemy, because light is present in almost all situations. Even so, a light alchemist can still produce light when they are in total darkness." She looked up at Shinama. "That's all I know, sir."
Nana stared at the question for a while. "Sound waves bounce in caves. Duh." (LOLOLOLOL my head just made up a random question)
Shinama nodded. "That's good. I'll do an activity with you according to your knowledge. You spoke of producing light, but what about removing it? Light alchemy is very closely interwined with fire alchemy, so you might actually have a bit of a talent for that as well. Now, look at this lamp." He pointed to a lamp's lightbulb. "I want you to switch it off with light alchemy."
Fuyushi nodded and wrote it down. "Next question- Name three known sound alchemists. Er, Victoria Mullova, Riku Maronu, and Yo-Yo Ma."
Yumeshi concentrated and pointed at the lamp. The light was immediately extinguished.
Nana read off the next question. "Name three types of things that sound alchemy is used for. Erm, Tuning instruments to perfection, singing perfectly and-?" She looked up at Fuyushi.
Yumeshi pointed at the lamp once more, and the light was replenished.
Nana wrote the answer down and thought for a moment. "Not getting things in tune or ending up deaf yourself," she said. "But you can overcome the first one by training hard and the second one by performing alchemy on yourself again."
Fuyushi made a face, but shrugged. "Whatever, as long as we have an answer," he muttered, and wrote it down. "One more: Write a >800 word essay on sound alchemy." He stared, then sat back in his chair, swearing under his breath.
Shinama nodded. "Good. Tonight's homework is to write a >800 word essay on light alchemy, Sanjo," he told her. He looked at the other two. "You will finish your worksheet for homework. Now we have thirty minutes of free time."
"Uh. It was fine, I guess. At least Nana and I finished all but one question on the worksheets." Fuyushi paused for a moment. "Nana doesn't seem to like me very much," he commented as he drew out the plan of his essay.
Yumeshi looked up at Nana for a while. "She isn't here to fool around, that's what she said. Because this is a school." She looked at Fuyushi. "Doesn't that make sense?"
Fuyushi rolled his eyes. "I'm not an idiot. I only fool around when I can... I've already done what I need to do. Why not have fun once in a while? Life's not all about work."
Fuyushi shook his head. "I think Nana needs to loosen up a bit. She doesn't have to do what other people tell her to. She can... you know, go do other things." He looked at Yumeshi. "Maybe you can help her with that."
Nana narrowed her eyes. "You should be writing your essay," she told Yumeshi and sat down, finishing up her essay and reading it over again. Yumeshi looked at Fuyushi apologetically and sat back down to work on her essay.
Fuyushi shrugged, and continued writing her essay. After a while, Shinama stood up. "Alright, class! You may leave now, remember to hand in your homework next time!" He called after them.
Shinama stood at the head of the classroom, waiting for his next class to begin. Five minutes later, Fuyushi, Anakira, Haruki, Nana, Yumeshi, and Akinara trooped into the room. Shinama handed them a sheet with the seating order: Yumeshi, Anakira, Akinara, Fuyushi, Haruki, Nana
Fuyushi and Haruki did the same. Shinama smiled at the class. "Please turn in your homework. After you have done that, Yumeshi and Anakira, turn to page 30 of your Light Alchemy textbooks, Nana and Fuyushi to page seven and of your Sound Alchemy textbooks, and Haruki to page 20. Read the unit section. When you are done, raise your hand."
Fuyushi and Haruki did the same (LOL). Shinama looked up and smiled. "Right. I would suppose you were all taking notes?" Haruki nodded silently. Fuyushi shrugged. He just highlighted.
Shinama stood up. "Great. Yumeshi, Anakira, work on the quiz on the next page. Do not cheat. Nana, Fuyushi, make an informative presentation about Sound Alchemists to present to the others by the end of class. Haruki, come with me." He finished talking and lead Haruki to another table, where they worked on Gravity Alchemy.
Fuyushi shrugged. "I don't know. I draw a little manga, but I'm probably not that good. Wait, here," he dug out a sketchbook and flipped to a page of a sketch of random anime characters.
Shinama looked up and nodded, then walked to the two. "Thanks, I'll take that for now." He glanced at his watch, then carried on: "Work together on the activity on the next page, after the section you read. When you're done, call me."
Just then, Shinama came to Fuyushi's and Nana's table. "Are you two almost done?" Fuyushi nodded. "Yeah. We just have to draw the visuals." "Then I'll give you ten more minutes to complete your presentation." Shinama turned and walked back over to Haruki to tell her about Gravity Alchemy.
Ten minutes later, Fuyushi looked up at Shinama, who was sitting at his desk. Shinama conveniently looked up as well, and smiled at Fuyushi. "Are you two done?"
Shinama clapped his hands together and SUDDENLY EVERYBODY STARTED FLOATING! (jk) Shinama clapped his hands together and the lights in the room dimmed. "Everybody take your seats! Fuyushi and Nana will do their presentation on sound alchemists!"
Fuyushi quickly went over to Nana and helped her up, leading her over to the front of the classroom. "You okay?" He asked her quietly, his eyes concerned as he handed her a part of the script and the pictures she drew.
They finished after a little while. Shinama was taking notes in a notebook with a red pen. He looked up. There was a silence, then Haruki started clapping.
Shinama glanced at Yumeshi and Anakira. "You two can finish doing that activity separately for homework. Fuyushi and Nana, your homework will be to write a report on sound alchemists. Make sure it's not too short. Haruki, you know what your homework is." He looked at his watch, then continued. "There are ten minutes of class remaining. You all did well, so you may have free time until the end of class. Do whatever you want."
Fuyushi walked through the door, and sat down at a table in the 3rd row. He plugged his earphones in and began to listen to his favorite piece of music, the 1st Cello Concerto by Antonin Dvorak.

ReplyDeleteYumeshi and Nana both flipped the pages and found the right page. They then stared up intently at Shinama.
ReplyDelete(Shinama was burned by their intense stares and dried up and died. lol jk)
ReplyDeleteFuyushi did the same, looking a little bored. Shinama instructed, "Read the first page, annotating and taking notes as you do so. Write any interesting things down in your notebook, and any questions you have. Okay? Go!"
Yumeshi started to scribble notes in her notebook. Nana also started to write in her book.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi did the same, then wrote something in his book. After a while, Shinama stood up. "Are you all done?"
ReplyDeleteFuyushi ignored him, but stopped writing.
Yumeshi and Nana both put down their pens and looked up at Shinama.
ReplyDeleteShinama glanced at them. "Write down one interesting thing on the board."
ReplyDeleteNana went up to the board. "Sound alchemy is the alchemy that manipulates sound waves in the air. They can change the waves, affecting all who hear them."

Yumeshi got up and walked over to the other side of the room. Nana got up and walked over to Natsuko. She sat down and looked at the sheets.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi looked awkwardly at Nana. "So, another musician, huh? What's your favorite piece for the violin?" He asked as he wrote his name on the sheet.
ReplyDeleteNana ignored his question. "This one looks the hardest, let's do that first," she said, pointing to one of the sheets.
ReplyDelete"I like the 1st violin concerto composed by Shoshtakovich," he continued conversationally as he handed her the sheet.
ReplyDeleteNana continued to ignore his comments, rapidly writing answers on the sheet.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi finished half a page with ease, then looked at Nana. "We're supposed to work together, you know."
ReplyDeleteNana ignored him.
ReplyDeleteShe continued to write.
ReplyDelete(how bout yumeshi??? XD)
(lol forgot about them)
ReplyDeleteFuyushi's kept on talking. "You know, I can just tell him you're not working with me, and that you're ignoring me."
Shinama hovered over Yumeshi's desk. "Right, Sanjo, tell me what you know about light alchemy."
Nana narrowed her eyes. "Yes, we are supposed to work together. But we are not in this school to chat all day."
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile....
Yumeshi thought for a moment. "Light alchemy is the alchemy that can control lights. A light alchemist can control the dimness and amount of light." She thought a little longer....
Shinama looked at Yumeshi. "You know more. Continue."
ReplyDeleteFuyushi rolled his eyes. "Well, work with me then!" He pointed to a random question on the page. "Like this one!"

ReplyDelete"Uh... deafening people?" He suggested, writing them down. "A couple more- What are the difficulties of sound alchemy and how do you overcome them?"
Yumeshi pointed at the lamp once more, and the light was replenished.
ReplyDeleteNana wrote the answer down and thought for a moment. "Not getting things in tune or ending up deaf yourself," she said. "But you can overcome the first one by training hard and the second one by performing alchemy on yourself again."

Nana immediately started to scribble down her essay. Yumeshi stared. "How was it?" she asked Fuyushi casually.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi looked at Yumeshi. "How was what?" He asked, confused.
ReplyDelete"THE CLASS," Yumeshi said. "After one hour of class, do you expect me to come up to you and ask how the weather is????"
ReplyDelete"Uh. It was fine, I guess. At least Nana and I finished all but one question on the worksheets." Fuyushi paused for a moment. "Nana doesn't seem to like me very much," he commented as he drew out the plan of his essay.

ReplyDeleteYumehsi was silent. Nana got up and walked over to them. "What are you talking about?" she asked innocently.
ReplyDelete(XDXD)
Fuyushi looked up at her and smiled. "Just about how the class went," he said smoothly. "You wanna join in?"
ReplyDeleteNana narrowed her eyes. "You should be writing your essay," she told Yumeshi and sat down, finishing up her essay and reading it over again. Yumeshi looked at Fuyushi apologetically and sat back down to work on her essay.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi shrugged, and continued writing her essay. After a while, Shinama stood up. "Alright, class! You may leave now, remember to hand in your homework next time!" He called after them.
ReplyDeleteNana waited for Yumeshi at the doorway. Yumeshi walked over to her, and they both headed back towards the dormitories.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi was already outside the classroom, heading towards his sister.
ReplyDeleteShinama stood at the head of the classroom, waiting for his next class to begin. Five minutes later, Fuyushi, Anakira, Haruki, Nana, Yumeshi, and Akinara trooped into the room. Shinama handed them a sheet with the seating order:
ReplyDeleteYumeshi, Anakira, Akinara, Fuyushi, Haruki, Nana
Nana, Yumeshi and Anakira all sat down in their respective seats. They then looked up.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi and Haruki did the same.
ReplyDeleteNana, Yumeshi and Anakira all turned in their homework. When they finished, they all sat down and cracked open their textbooks and began to read.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi and Haruki did the same. Shinama began to read and mark the homework with a red felt pen.
ReplyDeleteAfter a while, Nana, Yumeshi and Anakira all raised their hands.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi and Haruki did the same (LOL). Shinama looked up and smiled. "Right. I would suppose you were all taking notes?"
ReplyDeleteHaruki nodded silently. Fuyushi shrugged. He just highlighted.
Nana, Yumeshi and Anakira all began to write some notes on the paragraphs.
ReplyDeleteShinama sighed and went back to his grading. After a while, he looked up. "Are you all done?"
ReplyDeleteNana, Anakira and Yumeshi all nodded silently.
ReplyDeleteShinama stood up.
ReplyDeleteAnakira flipped the page to see the quiz. "How about you do the even numbers and I'll do the odd numbers?" he suggested.
ReplyDeleteNana scooted her chair over to Fuyushi and looked up at him.
(I don't play Yumeshi)
ReplyDeleteFuyushi looked down at her. "Hey." He took out a couple sheets of paper. "So I guess we begin planning, huh?"
(whoops. :/)
ReplyDeleteYumeshi nodded and they both began to work.
Nana nodded and took out some writing utensils.
Fuyushi sat back, looking thoughtful. "Hmm, what should we do?"
ReplyDeleteNana thought. "Give a brief description, I guess," she said. "And...."
ReplyDeleteFuyushi continued. "And the more important ones and perhaps surprising ones. Like Victoria Mullova and Brahms (actual people)."
ReplyDeleteNana nodded. "And......" (DAMMIT U CLUELESS WOMAN XD)
ReplyDeleteFuyushi cocked his head. "I think we'll do that for now. Oh, and their specialties."
ReplyDeleteNana nodded. "I'll write about the people."
ReplyDeleteFuyushi nodded and began to work. "So should it be like a speech with pictures that we draw or something?"
ReplyDeleteNana thought, and then nodded. "Are you good at drawing?"
ReplyDeleteFuyushi shrugged. "I don't know. I draw a little manga, but I'm probably not that good. Wait, here," he dug out a sketchbook and flipped to a page of a sketch of random anime characters.
ReplyDeleteNana nodded at the slightly out of proportion characters. "....so?"
ReplyDeleteFuyushi glanced at her. "So if you want to do it that's fine."
ReplyDeleteNana nodded. "We can decide on that later," she said."We can just write the script for now."
ReplyDeleteFuyushi agreed. "Yeah," he nodded, and began to write. "Shall I do the intro?"
ReplyDeleteNana nodded. "I'll start writing the rest, and when you're done you can continue writing and I'll write the conclusion."
ReplyDeleteYumeshi and Anakira looked up. "We've finished!"
"Okay," Fuyushi said, and continued writing.
ReplyDeleteShinama looked up and nodded, then walked to the two. "Thanks, I'll take that for now." He glanced at his watch, then carried on: "Work together on the activity on the next page, after the section you read. When you're done, call me."
They both nodded and flipped to look at the next page.
ReplyDeleteNana wrote as well.
A little while later, Fuyushi looked up. "I'm done."
ReplyDeleteNana nodded, and slid her portion over to him. "Here."
ReplyDeleteFuyushi read it and nodded. "I'll continue it."
ReplyDeleteNana nodded and began to write the conclusion.
ReplyDeleteAnother while later, Fuyushi finished Nana's and his writing. "Done."
ReplyDeleteNana nodded just as she finished writing her last sentence. "....."
ReplyDeleteAnakira and Yumeshi began to read.
Just then, Shinama came to Fuyushi's and Nana's table. "Are you two almost done?"
ReplyDeleteFuyushi nodded. "Yeah. We just have to draw the visuals."
"Then I'll give you ten more minutes to complete your presentation." Shinama turned and walked back over to Haruki to tell her about Gravity Alchemy.
Nana looked up at Fuyushi. "What now?"
ReplyDeleteFuyushi took out a 2B pencil. "We draw," he said. "What shall we do?"
ReplyDeleteNana thought. "You can draw diagrams," she said. "I'll......"
ReplyDeleteFuyushi nodded. "Okay." He took out the paper and began to sketch.
ReplyDeleteNana thought for a moment and drew a picture of an alchemist.
ReplyDeleteTen minutes later, Fuyushi looked up at Shinama, who was sitting at his desk. Shinama conveniently looked up as well, and smiled at Fuyushi. "Are you two done?"
ReplyDeleteThey both nodded.
ReplyDeleteShinama clapped his hands together and SUDDENLY EVERYBODY STARTED FLOATING! (jk) Shinama clapped his hands together and the lights in the room dimmed. "Everybody take your seats! Fuyushi and Nana will do their presentation on sound alchemists!"
ReplyDeleteNana stood up and tripped over the chair.
ReplyDeleteYumeshi stared. "............." Anakira looked away as to not embarrass her.
Fuyushi quickly went over to Nana and helped her up, leading her over to the front of the classroom. "You okay?" He asked her quietly, his eyes concerned as he handed her a part of the script and the pictures she drew.
ReplyDeleteNana nodded and they both stood there.
ReplyDeleteShinama cleared his throat. "You may begin."
ReplyDeleteFuyushi glanced at Nana, waiting for her to begin.
Nana looked up at the class. "Erm, sound alchemy is the alchemy that controls all sound waves and sound related items."
ReplyDeleteFuyushi continued after her, talking about the famous sound alchemists and their achievements.
ReplyDeleteNana held up the pictures and continued to speak when he finished.
ReplyDeleteThey finished after a little while. Shinama was taking notes in a notebook with a red pen. He looked up. There was a silence, then Haruki started clapping.
ReplyDeleteNana felt kind of red, but she kept on looking forward. Yumeshi and Anakira both clapped for their friends.
ReplyDeleteShinama smiled. "That was good. You two may sit down." Fuyushi grabbed Nana's hand and led them to their desks.
ReplyDeleteNana sat down. Yumeshi beamed up at her friend, and Anakira grinned at Fuyushi. Then they all looked at Shinama.
ReplyDeleteShinama glanced at Yumeshi and Anakira.
ReplyDeleteYumeshi turned to Nana and the two began to chat. Anakira looked over at Fuyushi. "Nice presentation," he said.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi smiled. "Thanks."
ReplyDeleteThey chatted more.
ReplyDeleteFuyushi sat there and smiled stupidly. (LOL jk)
ReplyDeleteYumeshi and Nana chatted on.
ReplyDeleteAfter a while, Shinama looked up. "Okay, class is finished, people. You may leave."
ReplyDeleteNana and Yumeshi stood up and started back towards the dorms. Anakira looked over at Fuyushi. "Anywhere you wanna go?"
ReplyDeleteFuyushi gave Anakira a look. "It's dinner, man. I'm hungry, let's go to the Cafeteria."
ReplyDeleteAnakira nodded and they both left.
ReplyDelete
